Slow, costly,
hard to maintain

WordPress was a fine choice years ago. Today, most sites are stuffed with so many plugins that they load slowly, cost a lot to keep running, and need constant attention — for what is essentially a marketing page.

🐌

Slow to load

An average WordPress page can take several seconds to load on mobile. Visitors are impatient — many leave before the site even appears.

🎒

Too many add-ons

A typical site uses 20–40 different plugins — often for just one small feature each. Every one of them slows things down, needs updates, and adds a potential failure point.

🛡️

Easily hacked

WordPress is the world's most-attacked CMS. One missed update or weak password and your site can end up serving malicious links, foreign content, or just going offline.

💸

Ongoing monthly costs

Premium editor, security plugin, speed-up plugin, backups — billed monthly or annually. €100–500/yr quickly adds up, just to keep things running.

🧱

One update and it breaks

After a builder or theme update, the layout sometimes breaks, parts disappear. Many owners stop updating altogether — which is itself a security risk.

📉

Doesn't handle traffic well

A campaign, press mention, or viral post can bring enough traffic to overload a WordPress site. On budget hosting, peaks often take it down.

WordPress vs.
your own custom-coded site

The main differences in plain English, no numbers needed. Where WordPress is genuinely the better choice, we'll say so.

WordPress isn't bad — it's just not always the best fit. If you publish content daily, or rely on the plugin ecosystem, staying might be the right call. The free assessment tells you honestly.

How the
conversion works

01

Free assessment

We look at your current site, discuss what you need. You get a quote within a few business days.

02

Agreement

We write down what to keep, what to simplify, and the timeline. Work starts only after this.

03

Build

We work on a separate test page that you can check anytime. Your live site keeps running.

04

Test

Phone and desktop, multiple browsers. You review before launch — any change requests are discussed.

05

Launch

We switch it over to your domain. 12-month bug-fix warranty — if anything's off, we fix it.

Typical turnaround: 2–4 weeks, depending on site size. Your existing site keeps running unchanged throughout — nothing goes offline until launch.

What you gain —
and what you give up

The switch isn't right for everyone. Here are the upsides, and — importantly — the trade-offs, in the open.

Pros

What you get when you switch:
  • A faster siteWithout the unused plugins, it loads noticeably faster. Visitors are less likely to give up waiting, and Google prefers fast sites too.
  • Much lower security riskThe simple static version has no login and no database — nothing to break into. Even the dynamic version has a far smaller attack surface than a plugin-heavy WordPress.
  • No more monthly plugin feesAfter the one-time build, only hosting and the domain are recurring — a few euros a month. No more renewing premium plugins every year.
  • Your own simple visitor statsYour data on your server, not Google's. No cookie banner required, and it meets privacy regulations out of the box.
  • More stable operationIt won't break from an update. It won't go down because a plugin author makes a decision. It just runs.
  • Does exactly what you wantNo theme constraints. Animations, custom layouts, special interactions — anything is doable if it matters.
⚠️

Cons

What you give up in return:
  • !
You depend on a developerMany people can work with WordPress. A custom-coded site needs a programmer. For later changes or new features, you'll come back to us (or another developer).
  • !
No "click and edit" experienceIn the cheapest package even a text change is a developer task. Larger packages solve this with a custom admin, but even then only for what you ordered.
  • !
Higher up-front costA ready WordPress theme costs €30–200 and you're live in weeks. A custom site is a bigger one-time investment — but no monthly licences afterwards, and no aging out years later.
  • !
No ready-made plugins for new featuresIn WordPress, most new features have a plugin you install in minutes. Here, every new feature has to be coded — slower and more expensive if you want lots of new things.
  • !
Different editing experienceThe custom admin is simpler and only does what's needed — but isn't as rich or general as WordPress out of the box. A few days getting used to it is normal for any new system.
  • !
Less convenient for heavy content updatesIf you publish several posts a week, or have a constantly changing catalogue, staying on WordPress might be more convenient. If the site only changes a few times a year, you're better off here.
Honestly: During the assessment we'll tell you if staying on WordPress is the better call for your situation. We won't sell you something that doesn't pay off.

What most people
ask

What happens to my existing content — texts, images, blog posts?
Whatever matters to you, we move over. The process isn't automatic — it's manual work because every site is structured differently. During the assessment we look at how much content there is and factor that into the quote. Old, no-longer-relevant items (outdated posts, unused pages) are usually worth dropping anyway.
What will happen to my Google rankings?
We do everything we can to avoid losses — where possible we keep the same URLs, and where they change, we add redirects from old to new. We don't promise specific ranking improvements, since Google depends on many things. What we do see is that faster, cleaner sites generally do better than slow, plugin-stuffed WordPress sites.
What if Digital Dynamics shuts down, or I want to switch developers later?
You receive the full source code at launch, with documentation on how it runs and how to edit it. Any developer working with similar technologies can take over. To be clear: any handover costs a few hours of ramp-up time — the new developer has to learn the codebase — but that's true of any custom-built site, not just ours.
How long does the conversion take?
Simple conversion (1–10 pages): 2–3 weeks. With editable parts (5–15 pages): 3–5 weeks. Larger site with custom admin: 5–8 weeks. Webshop conversion: 2–3 months. Your existing site keeps running unchanged the whole time; nothing goes offline until launch.
What's the warranty, and what about later changes?
12-month bug-fix warranty from launch: anything that was already in the code at delivery and turns out faulty, we fix free of charge. New features, content changes, new products are not covered — those are billed separately, even within the 12 months. Options: hourly rate (~HUF 15,000/hr), or a monthly maintenance package from HUF 15,000/month (about 1 hour/month).
What if I still want a WordPress-like editing experience?
Our larger packages (with the custom admin) come with a WordPress-style editor — text formatting, image upload, page and post management. It's simpler and only does what's needed, but the feel is close to what you're used to. If you really want to use the thousands of ready WordPress plugins, it might be better to stay on WordPress — we'll tell you during the assessment.
Where will the site be hosted?
Your choice. Rentable on our own server in the EU (privacy-compliant) for a monthly fee, or hosted anywhere you already use. Runs anywhere with PHP 8+ and MySQL. The static version can even run on a free service like Cloudflare Pages or Netlify.
Can I get an invoice? Can I order as a company or an individual?
Digital Dynamics Kft. is a Hungarian-registered company. We issue an official invoice for every order. We're currently under the small-business VAT exemption, so we invoice without VAT — the prices shown are what you pay (no +27% added). Both businesses and individuals can order. Payment: 50% deposit at contract, 50% at launch, bank transfer.
